The SADC TFCA Steering Committee welcomed Steve Collins as the SADC TFCA Network Coordinator in July 2023, with support from the SADC/GIZ Climate Resilient and Natural Resources (C-NRM) Programme. Steve has 30 years of regional development experience, focusing on promoting human rights through inclusive socioeconomic development that recognizes conservation land use as a local, national and global asset.

The livelihood monitoring subgroup of the KAZA Impact Monitoring working group (KIM WG) and teams are in the process of analysing and feeding back to the communities, data which was collected using the integrated livelihoods monitoring toolkit.

In 2020, shortly after the establishment of Conserve Global (www.conserveglobal.earth) the organization received an invitation from the Government of Mozambique and MozBio to meet with representatives from six villages on the western edge of the Futi Corridor which is part of the Lubombo TFCA linking South Africa to Mozambique.

On August 31st, 2023, Ministers responsible for wildlife management from Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe convened in Livingstone, Zambia, to unveil the highly anticipated 2022 Kavango Zambezi (KAZA) Elephant Survey report. This report, a culmination of synchronized efforts among KAZA Partner States, marks a significant milestone in the conservation and management of the world's largest single elephant population.

In response to the second call for proposals issued by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) on behalf of the TFCA Financing Facility, a total of 35 concept notes requesting a total of EUR 53 million were received by the deadline of November 15, 2023.

In a bid to promote tourism and facilitate comprehensive exploration within the Kavango Zambezi (KAZA) Transfrontier Conservation Area (TFCA), the SADC/GIZ C-NRM Programme, in collaboration with the KAZA TFCA Secretariat and Boundless Southern Africa, in partnership with Tracks 4 Africa, are embarked on an ambitious project – the development of a detailed tourism map for the KAZA TFCA.
