SADC Secretariat and the SADC TFCA Network organized a much applauded side event at last month’s 14th Conference of Parties (COP) of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) which took place in Sharm El-Sheik, Egypt from 17th to 29th November.
The TFCA practitioners used the international platform to showcase their success stories of transfrontier conservation and to share their key message: conservation needs to place people at the forefront of the conservation thinking in order to achieve sustainable successes. SADC emphasized the importance of this paradigm shift, which is particularly important for the discussions on a Post-2020 Biodiversity Framework which is currently prepared by the Member States to the convention. The side event was supported by the German Government through GIZ TUPNR.
