The purpose of this guide is to show how elements of value chain analysis and risk analysis can be combined to form a practical and useful approach to planning for disease prevention and control measures. This approach should be risk-based and people-centred. Part One of this guide sets out the technical foundations of the value chain approach to management of disease risk. Part Two of the guide describes a practical approach for combining risk analysis with descriptive value chain mapping. The importance of value chain analysis in assessment of risk factors and potential socio-economic impacts of risk mitigation measures is also discussed.
