African Network of Man and Biosphere Reserves (AFRIMAB) SADC Sub-regional workshop

AFRIMAB is a network that was created by the "Regional Conference for forging cooperation on Africa's Biosphere Reserves for Biodiversity Conservation and Sustainable Development" which took place in Dakar (Senegal) in 1996.  The network aims at promoting regional co-operation in the fields of biodiversity, conservation and sustainable development through trans-border projects, which are primarily based in biosphere reserves.

South Africa has been elected as the coordinator for AFRIMAB Southern Africa sub-region (SADC) during the AFRIMAB General Assembly held in Ghana in September 2013. The South African government through the Department of Environmental Affairs is coordinating the AFRIMAB sub-regional workshop on Biosphere Reserves which is scheduled to take place from 17 to 18 March 2015, in Kruger to Canyon Biosphere Reserve in South Africa.
