GLTFCA Partner Countries, GLTFCA Implementing Agencies, GLTFCA Implementing Partners, Provincial & District / Local Government, Local Communities, Private Sector
The JMB has initiated a process to develop an integrated fencing strategy for the GLTFCA. Given the fact that fencing is cross sectoral issue, the key objectives of the Strategy will include the following: (1) Gathering baseline information on the location, intended use and state of current fences within the project area; (2) Obtaining an integrated picture of all future country based fencing proposals, including the objectives and time frames associated with these; and (3) Based on the above, and through the full participation of key stakeholders, develop an integrated fencing plan for both the GLTP and GLTFCA.

The development of the proposed strategy will take into consideration the following factors:

  1. Safety and Security issues, including current surge in wildlife crime;
  2. Veterinary issues, including disease control and management;
  3. Development of wildlife corridors; and
  4. Support of alternative livelihoods / livelihoods diversification programmes.
