| Closing date: | 12 November 2025 |
BIOFUND, in partnership with ANAC, IP, is carrying out the 2025 National Elephant Census, with the objective of estimating the size and distribution of the elephant population across Mozambique. As part of this effort, BIOFUND intends to allocate part of the resources from the Biodiversity Conservation Program to hire an external and independent consultant to conduct a technical review of the implementation and data analysis processes related to the 2025 National Elephant Census.
The overall objectives of the national elephant survey are:
•
Provide a comprehensive assessment of the numbers, trends and distribution of Mozambique’s elephant populations;
•
Document the type and spatial distribution of human-related activities, with a particular focus on conservation threats and habitat condition within survey areas;
•
Estimate the population size and distribution of other species of interest
•
Provide training prior and during the surveys to support capacity development in aerial survey methods for ANAC staff and personnel from conservation areas who will participate in the survey, including training potential observers.
5. Therefore, BIOFUND invites qualified individual consultants with a minimum of five (5) years of proven experience in the analysis and technical review of data from Systematic Reconnaissance Flight (SRF) or Total Count (TC) aerial surveys to express their interest in providing these services. Interested consultants are requested to submit documentation demonstrating their suitability for the assignment, including a verified portfolio of authored work, descriptions of similar assignments, relevant professional experience, and any other supporting materials that highlight their qualifications.
6. The consultants will be selected in accordance with the procedures outlined in the BIOFUND Procedures Manual. The selection method to be used is "QCBS" (Quality and Cost-Based Selection).
