Learning and Knowledge Exchange Programme

Donors/Funders:
GIZ TUPNR; USAID VukaNow; USAID Resilient Waters Programme
Implementers:
GLTFCA Implementing Agencies
Objectives:
The main objectives are to (1) share experiences in the development and implementation of conservation, tourism and community based projects and initiatives; (2) showcase best practice case studies to GLTFCA partner countries and project partners; (3) align the approach and functionality of the Joint Park Management Committees; and (4) continue with the building of relationships between GLTFCA officials and partners.

The JMB has embarked on a process to support the development of a GLTFCA Learning and Exchange Programme. In order to support this GLTFCA initiative, the JMB submitted a proposal to the GIZ funded SADC TFCA Learning Partnership Micro Fund in March 2017 and the proposal was accepted. The inaugural learning and exchange visit took place from 5 to 9 August 2019 in Gonarezhou National Park.  Approximately 5 delegates from each one of the GLTFCA Partner Countries participated in this event. Given the success of the event, funding will be sourced to make this an annual event in the GLTFCA which will rotate on annual basis between GLTFCA Partner Countries. The next phase of this initiative would potentially include the following components: (1) Learning and knowledge sharing exchange by representatives of partner countries to the Mozambican component of the GLTFCA; (2) A community learning and knowledge sharing exchange visit in the Pafuri-Sengwe Node; and (3) Learning and knowledge sharing exchange by representatives of GLTFCA partner countries to KAZA.
