Nedbank Tour de Tuli

Tuesday, 23 July, 2019 - 09:30 to Sunday, 28 July, 2019 - 00:00

The most unique mountain bike event in the world, the Nedbank Tour de Tuli provides cyclists with the life-changing opportunity of cycling along ancient elephant migration paths and unmanicured single track in some of the most beautiful wilderness areas in the Greater Mapungubwe Transfrontier Conservation Area, while at the same time making a contribution to secure a future for these areas and the people that live within them. Limited to just 350 participants, over four days cyclists traverse terrain in three countries – Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa – heading across informal border crossings, through prime wildlife territory and deep into community lands. The route takes cyclists through unfenced wildlife areas and they encounter game along the way – each group has a wildlife guide as part of the team.

The Nedbank Tour de Tuli is a high-end event with a ratio of one staff member for every two cyclists. Special touches include individual tents, hot showers, massages and five superb meals a day. Camps are located in extremely remote locations and care is taken to ensure that every site is left pristine, just as it was originally found.

The Tour is the primary fundraiser for Children in the Wilderness, a non-profit organisation supported by Wilderness Safaris. 100% of the profits are going towards its sustainable environmental education programmes aimed at bridging the divide between communities and the wildlife areas they live next to.
