This policy paper offers strategic recommendations to improve local community benefits from the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area (GLTFCA). While tourism and resource access have provided some livelihood gains, many communities, especially in Zimbabwe, remain marginalized due to limited inclusion, weak governance, and unresolved human-wildlife conflict. The paper advocates for inclusive decision-making, devolved authority, cross-border coordination, accountability, and accessible justice. Using the IUCN CEESP’s rights-based Natural Resource Governance Framework, it recommends empowering local voices, enhancing policy coherence, and creating transparent structures to foster equitable benefit sharing, thus ensuring long-term sustainability and community trust in the GLTFCA.
