Objectives: 
Aim: effective management of one of Africa's largest MPAs by setting up a functioning management structure including an enforcement system led by community rangers; diversifying livelihood activities & increasing food securing in coastal fishing communities by promoting conservation agriculture. Areas of work: i) MPA governance; ii) species conservation/sustainable fisheries; iii) habitat conservation & restoration; iv) sustainable livelihoods.

PSEPA is one of Mozambique's most biodiverse coastal & marine areas, host to several corlline islands with rich marine fauna, widespread seagrass beds & extensive mangroves (which form important nursery grounds). Main threats are illegal fishing, poaching & mangrove cutting.
