The SANParks Honorary Rangers is calling for applications for the Position of
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER based in Gauteng
KEY TASKS
Establish credibility as CEO of the SHR and strengthen relationships with existing employees/volunteers within the organisation and assume managerial responsibility and authority by building upon existing relationships. Champion the ethical values-driven culture of the SHR and ensure its compliance with legal, regulatory and governance requirements.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 10-15 years of post-qualifying experience with general managerial or executive role experience
of at least 5 five years within a similar-sized NGO or business.
• A track record of transforming an organisation is essential, as well as experience in business
improvement initiatives.
• Knowledge of SANParks and the Southern African conservation NGO sector (beneficial)
• Strong commitment to ethics and good governance and a thorough knowledge of King IV™ in terms of its
relevance to the NGO sector.
• track record of influencing others, networking, building relationships and opening doors to foster support.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Experience of presenting and advising at an Executive and Board level.
• Strong strategic capability and the ability to achieve organisational goals and objectives.
• Experience in working with the media.
• Commitment to continuing development of self, team members and volunteers.
• A genuine commitment to conserving national parks.
• Strong fundraising track record.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with volunteers.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Team player who displays passion about nature conservation and ecology.
• Strong managerial skills with a sound financial background.
• Action-oriented, entrepreneurial and flexible with an innovative approach to operational management.
• Passionate, mission-driven, self-directed and humble with a positive attitude and high integrity.
• Ability to work co-operatively with an Exco composed mainly of volunteers.
